Post School Services

The Post School Services Program gives young people with high support needs the opportunity to learn and acquire workplace skills and knowledge in a supported environment.

The service is managed by an occupational therapist and provides an individual skills based program focusing on task analysis and outcome based activities. Each participant has an individualised plan with regularly updated goals that clearly indicate improvement areas and outcome rating scales.

Areas included :

  • Training in our plant nursery
  • Community employment projects
  • Work experience in horticulture, packaging, and hospitality
  • Yard and garden care
  • Life skills
  • Literacy and numeracy training
  • Fine motor and gross motor skill development
  • Commercial Cookery with Occupational Health and Safety
  • Hotel industry cleaning and room service

All participants engage in a range of activities in small groups designed to maximize participation and skill development. Staff are supported by industry professionals to ensure up to date training and direction. Activities are planned with a social focus to enable social skill and communication development.

Opportunities exist for community engagement as well as on site work experience. Help Enterprises welcomes school work experience groups to visit as part of their transition program for senior students. Participants are eligible for the program if over 18.

Participants can access the program with Post School Services funding through the Department of Communities, or as a fee for service arrangement. Programs operate at Mitchelton on the north side of Brisbane and Carole Park on the South side of Brisbane.
