Caitlin's life after school

4th November 2021

Two images of Caitlin side by side. Both feature Caitlin caring for animals. One image shows Caitlin sitting on the floor with a cat in her lap, while the other shoes her combing a guinea pigs coat.

"It has been a pleasure to have Caitlin do work experience at Nibbles Cafe. Caitlin is diligent, keen to learn, and always has a beautiful demeanor.  She retains the knowledge that she learns each week, and comes prepared to work hard. She is a real joy to have in our workplace."- Sharon, Manager at Nibbles Cafe.

For those that have had the pleasure to meet Caitlin glowing reviews like this should come as no surprise. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and bursting with knowledge 20-year-old Caitlin embodies all the qualities employers look for in an employee.

Caitlin joined HELP’s School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) 18 months ago and is already well on her way to achieving her goal of employment.

In addition to gaining valuable work experience across a range of different industries, Caitlin has also been busy attending weekly sessions with her IES (Inclusive Employment Supports) Coach.

These weekly sessions have helped Caitlin build the skills and knowledge she needs to transition into the workforce with confidence, including learning how to navigate the physical challenges of work to accommodate her disability.

Though it’s only been a matter of months since Caitlin started her work journey, her HELP Coach and employers (like Bianca at Happy Paws, Happy Hearts), have already noticed the positive impact on her confidence levels.

"Caitlin's social confidence has grown exponentially in her time at HPHH and this is evident through her courteous and thoughtful attitude, always showing interest in what others are doing and assisting when appropriate. Caitlin is extremely compassionate and particularly enjoys sitting with scared or timid cats to help them gain confidence and learn how to trust people again. Caitlin is a conscientious participant and is always helpful with the setup, pack down, and cleaning of our training room for each session. She's a delight to have in session each week." – Bianca, Happy Paws, Happy Hearts.

Caitlin is currently continuing work experience at Happy Paws Happy Hearts Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and Nibbles Cafe, with an aim to eventually secure a paid position in her dream industry- hospitality!

We can’t wait to what’s next for this unstoppable young woman.
