NDIS Plan Management with HELP

16th March 2022

Want to find out more about NDIS Plan Management? We talked to HELP's NDIS Planning Manager Barbara to learn about the benefits of having your Plan Managed, what Plan Managers do, and how HELP's Plan Management service can help you get the most out of your funding.

Could you tell us a little bit about Plan Management and what NDIS Plan Managers do?
Plan Management is a financial service that helps people understand and manage their NDIS plan and funding. Our job as Plan Managers is to take the stress out of managing your NDIS Plan, and ensure you get the most out of your funding. We do this by:

  • helping you to better understand your NDIS Plan so that your goals and support needs align with the NDIS pricing guide,
  • working with you to create a support budget and;
  • managing all payments required to secure your services and supports.

Our team of Plan Managers look after all the paperwork you need to pay for your NDIS funded services and supports. They work alongside our accountants to send invoices to providers, manage your income, make payments on your behalf, and generate monthly statements to monitor how your budget is progressing.
What are the benefits of having someone manage your NDIS plan for you?

  • No more stress
A Plan Manager takes the worry out of managing your NDIS funds. HELP's experienced Plan Managers are only a phone call away and can answer all of your questions. The team understands the challenges of navigating the NDIS and are there to listen and provide expert advice.
  • Choice & flexibility
Plan Management gives people a wider range of service and support options. We believe all participants and their families should have the choice to select the providers that best cater to their needs, and the control to change their services and supports as they see fit. We offer independent and unbiased Plan Management support.

Most people have more than one provider so it can be difficult to keep track of all the invoicing required. HELP's Plan Managers manage multiple invoicing arrangements (including identifying and resolving invoicing discrepancies). Working with a Plan Manager means you can choose from both registered and unregistered providers*.

    * The term 'unregistered provider' means that the provider has not gone through the formal registration process. If you want to use an unregistered provider, your plan must be plan managed or self managed.
  • Peace of mind & security
With HELP you can rest assured that your funds are managed by qualified accountants who are NDIS registered and approved. Using a professional and experienced provider also gives you greater protection from fraud.
  • More time to focus on what matters
Plan Managers deal with all the NDIS administration tasks and regular audit requests needed to maintain your plan.

What makes HELP different from other providers?
Working in the disability care industry for over 20 years (7 of those at HELP!), I've seen it all! What sets HELP apart from other providers is the genuine commitment to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.  Our daily work is hearing people’s stories, and supporting families and people with disability so that they can make informed decisions. At HELP, our team shares the same values and vision.

How do I know if plan management is right for me? What’s the difference between plan managed, NDIA managed, and self-managed?
I think HELP's Plan Management info page sums this up really well!

Do I have to use HELP services and supports if I choose HELP to manage my NDIS Plan?
You have the choice and control to use whichever services and supports you want whether or not your funding is Plan Managed by HELP.  HELP offers Plan Management services to all NDIS participants regardless of the services and supports they choose.

What should I do if I’m not happy with my NDIS Plan, or don’t understand my NDIS Plan?
Call 1800 437 345 or email to get in touch with our friendly team.  Each person’s plan and circumstance is different.  We can answer your questions, talk about any concerns you might have, and help you work out a solution that's right for you.

What are your top 3 tips for managing your NDIS Plan?

  • Seek advice to understand your plan from an experienced professional or provider like HELP.
  • Create a budget and stick to it.
  • Make sure you have a written agreement with your service providers so you know exactly what you are purchasing.

What’s your favourite part of the job?
Seeing the positive difference that NDIS funding makes in people’s lives! It's so rewarding to see people reach their goals, make their own decisions, and maximise their NDIS Plan and funding.
